Abstract

Physical adsorption of gases and of gas and liquid mixtures on heterogeneous solids is briefly reviewed. A special emphasis is given to the outlook for the future theoretical work in this field. The elaboration of a unified description of physical adsorption on heterogeneous solids at fluid-solid interfaces and a standard method for evaluating the energy distribution function seem to be the most important problems in physical adsorption.
