Abstract

Paradigm shift in the promotion of health in Nigerian through physical activity remain unaddressed. Lower respiratory infections, ischemic heart disease, liver cirrhosis, stroke being among the top 10 causes of death in Nigeria are tied to physical inactivity among others. It is on this ground that this paper seeks to examine the risk of inactive interventions towards physical activity. Through reviews of related literature this article explored strategies for physical activity intervention by creating active society, active people, active environment and active system. It is therefore recommended that the government, institution and all relevant agencies implement all strategies of intervention through multi-sectoral approach for impactful delivery.
