Abstract

A tunable and reconfigurable photonic microwave filter based on a switched dispersion matrix (SDM) is proposed. The SDM consists of n 2/spl times/2 optical switches and a dispersive medium between them. The architecture shows discrete filter tuning and reconfiguration capabilities using an array of fixed lasers which reduce the system cost regarding other proposals based on broadband tunable lasers. Tuning capabilities have been experimentally demonstrated.
