Abstract

Carbothermal reduction and nitridation method was used to prepare phosphor from , , , and . The as-prepared samples were heated again at in a carbon-free atmosphere (high-purity ) to decrease the residual carbon content. The resulting phosphors with lowered carbon impurity showed the yellow emission band peaking at as intensified 2–3 times more by the above heat-treatment. A white light-emitting diode (LED) with a Commission Internationale de l'Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinate (, ) was fabricated by using a blue LED chip together with and phosphors.
