Abstract

The branch of electronics depends mainly upon semiconductors. Silicon is front running candidate in this race. As the time passed the advancement in the field of chemistry has included elements of cadmium, germanium, zinc, nickel etc., have joined the group. Among these elements Zinc oxide and sulphide have given promising results. They are easy to synthesis and environmental friendliness has increased their usefulness. The Zinc Sulphide with transition metal dopants has higher photoluminescent property, which helped in the field of photovoltaic and development of solar cells. Zinc sulphide nano particles in presence of complete 3d shell in Manganese in the lattice will help in the excess of electronic transition from 4T1- 4A1 orbitals. This was studied using photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy and X-ray Photoluminescence Spectroscopy (XPS). In photoluminescence (PL), excited electrons in the Zinc Sulphide lattice provide an emission at 480 nm, but the presence of Manganese pushes the emission to 587 nm and XPS showed the orbital separation during the emissions.
