Abstract

Phthalocyanines (Pcs, Figure 1) have attracted attention as a result of their diverse electronic and optical properties, offer applications in the fields of luminophores, sensors, non-linear optics, photosensitizers for singlet oxygen generation, photovoltaic cells, red or near-infrared light absorbers in optical data storage systems, and photoconductor devices. Because of a recent surge of interest in both the functionalization of various molecules, focusing on photofunctions of Pcs has become essential. I'll present recent topics especially from the viewpoint of photofunctions of Pc complexes, i.e., photoelectrochemical catalysts, singlet oxygen generators, redox-based fluorescent probes, and magneto-optical effects.
