Abstract
The interaction of CdTe with GaSb(111)A surfaces has been investigated with low-energy electron diffraction and synchrotron radiation photoelectron spectroscopy. The data reveal the crystalline growth of CdTe in the (111) orientation. The photoemission measurements indicate a Stranski-Krastanov growth mode. Lineshape analysis of the core-level spectra provides strong evidence that a GaTe compound is formed in the first adsorbate layer. The data indicate that the growth front is Te-terminated with a slight segregation of Sb.
