Abstract

Total photon interaction cross-sections are measured at the energies 6.4, 14.4 and 35.6 keV in the elements V, Cu, Mo, Sn, Ta, Au, Pb and Th, using a modified good-geometry arrangement and a krypton-filled proportional counter. The majority of the results is new. The results are compared with those of previous experiments in overlapping energy regions. The photoelectric cross-sections (mostly below theK-edge) are obtained by subtracting the contributions of coherent and incoherent scatterings and are compared with the recent theoretical estimates of Seofield.
