Abstract

Photodetachment of few-electron negative ions is discussed. In particular H −, He −, Li −, and Be − ions are reviewed. The emphasis is on calculations of the highly correlated doubly and triply excited states that show up as resonances in photodetachment spectra. Comparison between different calculational schemes and with experiments is made whenever possible. The physical interpretation and possible classification of the states are discussed.
