Abstract

The luminescence spectroscopic properties and photochemical reactions of aliphatic and aromatic amines in liquid and solidsolutions are examined. Attention is concentrated on the photochemical reactions of aromatic amines derived from aniline inliquid solutions. The mechanism of the photodissociation of the nitrogen–hydrogen and carbon–nitrogen bonds and thedependence of the luminescence spectroscopic properties of amines on their structure and on the positions of their energylevels in the lowest electronically excited states are discussed. The bibliography includes 151 references.
