Abstract

It is shown that MoS2/CdS composites prepared via one-pot hydrothermal synthesis, unlike individual constituents, display photocatalytic properties in hydrogen evolution reactions from aqueous solutions of acetic, formic, and lactic acids on visible light irradiation. The influence of different factors on the efficiency of photocatalytic processes has been studied in the presence of lactic acid, and it was shown that under optimal conditions the rate of hydrogen formation equals 1.1 mmol/h·g with quantum efficiency of 7.2%.
