Abstract

The effect of the phase composition, the presence of silver nanoparticles, and the pH of the medium on the catalytic activity of heterophasic materials based on titanium oxide(IV) was studied in the photodegradation reactions of methyl orange and methylene blue. It was found that the highest degree of photodegradation of dyes is achieved when the anatase/rutile phase ratio in the photocatalyst is in the range from 60/40 to 50/50 (wt %), the photocatalyst samples are modified with silver particles, and the pH of the dye solutions is less than 5. Justification for the detected patterns was based on the use of energy data of the phases of TiO2 and silver.
