Abstract

Hyphema is the accumulation of red blood cells in the anterior chamber of the eye. Blood accumulates from the disruption of vessels of the iris or ciliary body. Trauma is the most common risk factor, however, spontaneous hyphema can also result from other causes, including an underlying medical condition.
