Abstract

Summary Polyacrylamide gel electrophoretic studies show that new RNA species develop within one day both in the stem and the leaves of Impatiens balsamina L. plants exposed to inductive treatments regardless of whether the induction of floral buds was caused by 8 hr photoperiods (inductive) or by GA 3 applications under 24 hr photoperiods (non-inductive). A band with high electrophoretic mobility also develops but only in the leaves of GA 3 -treated plants under 8 as well as 24 hr photoperiods and may be considered to be associated with extension growth.
