Abstract

Summary A study of phosphate components in experimental atherosclerotic plaque reversal of the rabbit aorta reveals a shorter half-life for total aortic phosphate, phospholipid phosphorus, and TCA-soluble phosphate in MgEDTA-treated animals compared to normal and atherosclerotic controls. In MgEDTA-treated animals these phosphorus components in absolute amounts lie well between that of the normal and untreated atherosclerotic animal.
