Abstract

The article analyses verses of Gadzhi-Yusuf Medzhidov, the Rutul ashug-poet, classic of ashug poetry of one of the small people of Southern Dagestan – Rutuls, the verses were written by him in the last decades of his life. In his poetry the highest harmony of thought and feeling, harmony of images, sounds and rhythm is developed. The verses became for him the way of expression of his deep reflections about the meaning of life, about frailty of life, responses to all events of the world around full of contradictions and problems.
