Abstract

Vico’s historical humanism provides a needed intellectual alternative to more analytic tendencies in modernity. Poesis embodies the fullest alternative to that analytic tradition that manifests itself most dangerously in the coalescence of authoritarian politics, Cartesian ambition, and abstract ahistoricism that we know as torture.
