Abstract
TEis paper is about the understanding of mathematical language as the basis of the scientificness assumed by the analytic approach of geographical knoxvledge. From the decade of the fifties, the philosophical grounds of [hese new formulations are analyzed after studying the general sense of the transformations which tended to an increasing maihematization in the rauge of Geografia y lenguaje matematico 69 human and social wisdom as well ~<sin that of geographieal knowledge. In ffiis sense i.t is studied the cognoscitive borizont of analytical philosophy, paying speeial attention to understand the relations of logie, language and ~vorld and, in relation to it, to the interest on the exact delinition of the nature and borders of the scientific language. At last, it is exposed the characters of the scientif.icness project proposed by the geograplije analytical tendencies. the relevance of Ihe incorporation of scientific method to tbe seope of Geography, te consequent consideration of theory as Uw organi.sing body for Geographys anaytical conception, and tbe definition of the central location given to Ihe mathematical language in tl-xat scientifi.cness pi-oject.
