Abstract

In this work, a phased array based on coupled self-oscillating mixers is presented for its application in beam- steering phased-array systems. Each element of the 4x1 array of harmonic self-oscillating mixers (HSOMs) provides the double functionality of variable phase-shifter and down- converter. The analysis of the system is realized using nonlinear techniques and the ranges of synchronized operation of the individual HSOMs, versus the circuit parameters, are calculated, with the corresponding phase shift. The phase variation of the coupled harmonic self-oscillating mixers is calculated for three different working points of the innermost HSOMs of the array. At these points, the transient behavior of the array is found using the envelope transient simulation method. (4 pages)
