Abstract

The influence of light dynamical fermions on first-order phase transitions is examined in the mean field framework for SO(3) lattice gauge theory with Kogut-Susskind fermions. In agreement with Monte Carlo data, the effects of light fermions turn out to be small preventing the weakening of the phase transition.
