Abstract

Abstract This paper deals with the experimental results associated with the phase separation, nucleation and crystallization of chalcogenide glasses. Experiments demonstrate that the phase separation may be affected by small amounts of additives. It has been found that some chalcogenide glasses could be converted into glass-ceramics without phase separation. The different mechanisms of nucleated crystallization of chalcogenide glasses are discussed and proposed.
