Abstract

The subsolidus phase relationships of the PbOSrOCaO system in air were investigated at 830°C to 835°C. Complete solid solution exists between Ca 2PbO 4 and Sr 2PbO 4. Compatibility between SrPbO 3 and the (Ca,Sr) 2PbO 4 solid solution terminates at approximately (Ca 0.80Sr 0.20) 2PbO 4. Tie-line relationships between (Ca,Sr) 2PbO 4 and PbO, SrPbO 3, and the solid solutions (Ca,Sr)O and (Sr,Ca)O were also determined. At 830°C to 835°C, SrO and CaO do not form a complete solid solution. Tie-lines were found to extend from the Ca-rich solid solution (CaO to Ca 0.89Sr 0.11O) to nearly the entire range of (Ca,Sr) 2PbO 4. Tie-lines were also found between (Sr,Ca) 2PbO 4 (from Sr 2PbO 4 to Sr 1.95Ca 0.5PbO 4) and (Sr,Ca)O (from SrO to Sr 0.83Ca 0.17O). No other ternary oxide phases were found in this system.
