Abstract

Previous thermodynamic description of the La 2 O 3 –Ga 2 O 3 system has been updated based on new experimental data on the liquidus and the enthalpies of formation of LaGaO 3 and La 4 Ga 2 O 9 measured by high-temperature oxide melt drop solution calorimetry as well as calculated from first-principles. The existing contradictions were successfully resolved. Both the phase diagram and thermodynamic data were reproduced with high accuracy by thermodynamic calculations using the CALPHAD method.
