Abstract
1. X-ray structural analysis showed that the alloy M5 as cast consists of five phases; these are solid solutions based on aluminum, zinc and the chemical compounds CuAl2, MgZn2, and Cu3Sn. 2. Microspectral analysis and examination of the microsections in polarized light showed that the solid solution based on aluminum, with a fcc lattice, is the white structural component, and together with the other phases enters into the compositions of mechanical mixtures comprising the gray and black structural components.
