Abstract
NSAIDs are widely used not only for systemic control of acute or chronic pain and inflammation, but also for ocular surface and anterior segment inflammation as a topical instillation. Bromfenac sodium is a NSAID approved for the treatment of postoperative inflammation and ocular inflammatory disorder (blepharitis, conjunctivitis and scleritis/episcleritis). Bromfenac ophthalmic solution has been demonstrated to be very effective for ocular inflammation with twice-daily instillation, resulting from preclinical and pharmacokinetic features. Bromfenac ophthalmic solution is well tolerated, and the incidence of serious adverse events is very low. These results demonstrate that bromfenac ophthalmic solution is clinically useful and a convenient ophthalmic NSAID.
