Abstract
Low contrast phantoms for nuclear medicine external quality control have been used over the past fifteen years by the College of American Pathologists, the World Health Organisation, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Comisión Nacional de Energia Atómica. Their applications, experimental designs and methods of analysis were evaluated. Requirements for new phantom construction and measurements are proposed.
