Abstract

Petroleum production in Middle East countries totaled 7,748,491,000 bbl at an average rate of 21,228,742 b/d, down 5.3% from 1977. Principle increases were in Iraq, Divided Neutral Zone, Kuwait, and Dubai. There were significant new discoveries in Iran, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Abu Dhabi. New areas were explored in Oman, offshore South Yemen, Iran, and Saudi Arabia. Exploration in deeper stratigraphic sections was conducted in Iran, Abu Dhabi, and Saudi Arabia.
