Abstract

Petroleum production in Middle East countries in 1976 totaled 7,993,208,000 bbl at an average rate of 21,839,366 b/d, up 12.28% from 1975. Principle increases were in Abu Dhabi, Iran, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia; main decreases were in Divided Neutral Zone, Syria, and Turkey. There were significant new discoveries in Abu Dhabi, Iran, Iraq, Umm al Qaiwain, and Saudi Arabia. New areas were explored offshore from Oman's southern coast, offshore from Umm al Qaiwain, and in southeastern Abu Dhabi.
