Abstract

Abstract Cowpea is not only directly beneficial for livestock by serving as protein-rich animal feed, but it can also increase the yield of cereal crops by increasing the amount of nitrogen available for growth. This study aims to determine the differences in plant spacing on the growth and yield of cowpea. Primary data collection was carried out using the group randomized design technique (RBD). The method used in this research is group randomized design (RBD) with one factor arranged factorially, namely plant spacing. The results of the study are the treatment of plant spacing has no effect on plant height and 100 seed weight, but affects the number of main branches, the number of pods per plant, the number of filled pods and yield per hectare. The 40 x 45 cm plant spacing treatment gave the best results with the highest yield of 1.08 tons/ha. Keywords: Cowpea, Planting Distance, Randomized Block Design (RBD) Abstrak Kacang tunggak tidak hanya bermanfaat secara langsung bagi peternakan dengan berfungsi sebagai pakan ternak yang kaya protein, tetapi juga dapat meningkatkan hasil tanaman serealia dengan meningkatkan jumlah nitrogen yang tersedia untuk pertumbuhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan jarak tanam terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil kacang tunggak. Pengumpulan data primer dilakukan dengan teknik rancang acak kelompok (RAK). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak kelompok (RAK) dengan satu faktor yang di susun secara faktorial yaitu jarak tanam. Hasil penelitian yaitu perlakuan jarak tanaman tidak berpengaruh terhadap tinggi tanaman dan bobot 100 biji, akan tetapi berpengaruh terhadap jumlah cabang utama, jumlah polong pertanaman jumlah polong berisi dan hasil perhektar. Perlakuan jarak tanam 40 x 45 cm memberikan hasil terbaik yaitu dengan hasil tertinggi 1,08 ton/ha. Kata kunci: Jarak Tanam, Kacang Tunggak, Rancang Acak Kelompok (RAK)
