Abstract

S Happiness is one of the main topic that disscuss in philosophy of ethics dominantly. The concept of happiness disscussed from the beginning of philosophy disscussion at the age of classical Greeks until it was discussed in Islamic civilization by several Islamic philosophers such as Ibn Miskawayh and al-Ghazali. Both were early Islamic philosophers who discussed the concept of systematic happiness in their writings such as Tahdhib al-Akhlaq and Kimiya al-Sa'adat. This article written to describe the concept of happiness according to Islamic philosophers such as Ibn Miskawayh and al-Ghazali. This article depends on content analysis methods the method of library research as its primary method of data collection and method of inductive and deductive as its data analysis. The discussion of happiness from the Islamic moral philosophy perspective as discussed by Ibn Miskawayh and al-Ghazali also identified some basic issues. such as the ultimate goal of human beings, the role of reason, the concept of moderation as well as a correlation of happiness with physical and spiritual aspects. Ibn Miskawayh and al-Ghazali had corrected a misunderstanding of the concept of happiness as supposed in general. Therefore, this article brings true understanding about happiness to societies about how to attain happiness in the right way.
