Abstract
After a short history of the AIHENP workshop series started in 1990, we will sketch how, through the 7 meetings, we have been monitoring the computer revolution which is drastically transforming the way we perform basic research and, furthermore, how this series has been anticipating some of the major happenings. We will end up by proposing a critical review of the main goals of the workshop series and a short list of some current budding techniques and their possible applications to basic research.
