Abstract

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), a paper and pencil self-report inventory based on Jungian psychological type theory, was administered to 70 communication disorders supervisors and 401 students. Subjects were recruited from thirteen communication disorders programs in eleven states. Results indicate a preponderance of certain MBTI sychological types among the supervisors. In addition, significant (p < .001) differences were observed between the psychological type distributions of the supervisors when compared to their students. The discussion focuses on the implications of the MBTI personality type relations on the supervisory process.
