Abstract

Abstract Relationships between personality traits and participation in active leisure activities were studied in three groups of males participating in skydiving, scuba diving, and snow skiing. Personality data were collected from each group through the use of a self-administered instrument. The personality data were then compared to a “normative” group of 302 males. Several pragmatic and significant relationships were discovered between personality traits and participation in the three activities. The implication is that involvement in various leisure time activities is related to an individual's personality.
