Abstract

In the present work, a simple one-pot hydrothermal method is employed for the synthesis of Ce-substituted MoSe2 (CMS) nanostructures that possess high peroxidase-like activity. CMS obeys the enzyme kinetics with Michaelis-Menten constant (Km) of 0.35 mM for the 3,3′-5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB). CMS was found highly sensitive for the colorimetric detection of glucose. The detection limit of glucose was recorded at 1.698 μM with a linearity range of 10–50 μM. The sensitive detection of glucose in serum samples with the recoveries ranging from 96.04 to 98.25 % and selectivity against various amino acids and sugars, suggesting CMS to utilize in colorimetric biosensor for clinical diagnosis and pharmaceutical fields.
