Abstract

Background: Prolonged lactic acidosis (LA) correlates with severe cerebral injury in asphyxiated animal models. Few studies have evaluated LA and lactate clearance in neonates undergoing therapeutic hypothermia (TH) for hypoxicischemic encephalopathy (HIE).
