Permanents of Adjacency Matrices and Their Dependence on Molecular Structure

Abstract

In a recent work [Cash, G. G. (1997). Polycyclic Aromatic Compounds, 12, 61] the question was raised how the permanent of the adjacency matrix of a molecular graph depends on molecular structure, and, in particular, on the Kekulé structure count. Here we clarify this point, to which the basic answer is known since 1972.
