Abstract

Design and performance of high field permanent sextupole magnets, appropriate for the use in Stern–Gerlach-type atomic beam sources, is described. With neodymium–iron–boron alloys as permanent magnetic material, a usable pole tip field of 1.44 T has been obtained at a diameter of 24.5 mm.
