Abstract
Abstract These data indicate that the increased incidence of varicose veins during pregnancy may be in part due to a significant decrease in venous tone. Pregnancy and oral contraceptives may predispose to venous thrombosis as a result of the decrease in venous tone and decrease of mean linear velocity of venous blood flow in the calf.
