Abstract

Abstract Understanding various complications associated with transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) is extremely important. There have been rare reports of venous air embolism during TURP. We present a report of one such case in an 87-year-old male who suffered venous air embolism due to Ellik evacuator. TURP is the standard treatment for benign prostatic hypertrophy and is among the most common procedures in the geriatric male population. Venous air embolism during TURP is extremely uncommon, and there are very few case reports of the same.
