Abstract
Senile cataract when presenting with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can handicap the vision of the patient due to multiple reasons. The post-op recovery can be delayed too, thus questioning the very decision of the surgeon to operate. Good patient selection in terms of DM control, indication for surgery and retinal examination pre-op and post-operatively for earliest signs of diabetic retinopathy translate directly into good visual outcome in a diabetic patient undergoing cataract surgery. Few of the experienced cataract surgeons practicing in teaching institutes of the country have been interviewed on their preferred practices for a diabetic patient undergoing cataract surgery in this compilation.
