Abstract
This chapter provides an overview of conditions that can affect the periodontium in children and young people (CYP). It discusses the concept of clinical gingival and periodontal health. It also explains the classification of periodontal diseases and conditions based on the 2017 World Workshop on the classification of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions organised jointly by the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) and the American Academy of Periodontology (AAP).
