Abstract
Moser Baer Photo Voltaic Ltd.ABSTRACT: In order to enhance light trapping in thin film crystalline silicon solar cells OM&T is investigating the possible benefits of using periodic texturing next to random textured superstrates. One dimensional gratings groove height were therefore optically characterized and used as substrates forTCO growth morphology on these textured samples was inZnO:Al was measured by 4-point probe. Thecells was tested with a reference solar cell process which is being developed at OM&T. The short circuit current density of Si:H solar cells on these gratings is characterized as a function of grating period and height and compared with cells on flat (no texture) and Asahi U-type superstrates. Keywords: Amorphous S ilicon, Light Trapping, Texturiz 1 INTRODUCTION Improving the light trapping capability of thinsilicon solar cells is a key approach for the PV reduce the cost per watt by improving solar module efficiency and by shortening the cycle time. An improved light trapping can directly improv e the initial solar cell efficiency by creating a higher short circuit current density (
