Abstract
The oscillations period shift for a discharge tube relaxation oscillator placed in a weak microwave field is reported. The discharge tube consists of a miniature neon lamp. The period of the relaxation oscillations in the presence and in the absence of the microwave field, respectively, as a function of the dc supply voltage and microwave frequency, in the range 1–2.99 GHz, have been measured. The ratio between microwave and dc electric field strength was roughly on the order of 10-3. The measurement results have shown a significant increase of the relaxation oscillations period as an effect of the microwave field.
