Abstract
Data emerging that maternal consumption of moderate amount of caffeine will affect the development of the fetus and later the cognitive function of the brain. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of caffeine administration in pregnant mice on the learning and memory and motor coordination of offspring's at one and a half months of age. Two groups of animals were assigned, in which pregnant mice were given caffeine mixed with water (60 mg/kg/day) during their entire pregnancy and postnatally till weaning and a second group of pregnant mice which were given drinking water without caffeine.
