Abstract

Abstract Food choices and food preparation rituals are both performative acts and vehicles for the transmission of ethnicity. Among American Polonia, collective pierogi making has become an important symbolic action of claiming one's Polish American identity, which brings together different genders and generations within families, kin, and friend circles.
