Abstract
Adaptive Cycle Engine is a candidate propulsion system for next generation fighters which can meet the multi-mission requirements of future air combat. Considering the performance requirements of fighter’s climb mission, the engine performance is optimized in constraints by Genetic Algorithm. The climb results of the fighter, which are calculated with different engine performances, are also compared. The results show that the Adaptive Cycle Engine has better subsonic-climb performance than the conventional turbofan, and the optimization of variable geometric mechanisms can further improve its advantages.
