Abstract
This two-part article considers the application of reconfigured hybrid membranes for stripping CO2 from natural gas mixtures in order to meet various specifications, including pipeline transportation. The first part, which appears in the June 2012 issue of Membrane Technology, provides the background to this research, including key benefits of this technology. It also describes the apparatus used in this study and discusses the experimental results. In this, the second and final instalment, we will look at the permeation and separation mechanism and, in conclusion, outline what this technology is able to offer the oil and gas processing industry.
