Abstract

In this paper, the performance analysis of noncoherent multicode DS-CDMA systems for reverse links of the cdma2000 radio configurations 1 and 2 over Nakagami-m frequency-selective fading channels is evaluated. The transmission system is intended to serve multi-rate multimedia applications suitable for data, voice, image, and video conveyance. A RAKE receiver structure, with square-law and equal gain combining, is used for demodulation. A statistical characterization is applied to the multiple access interferers (MAI), which can be modeled as a Gaussian distribution, and thereby, the exact bit error rate (BER) of the system with uncorrelated diversity branches over Nakagami-m channels may be derived. Numerical results over the Nakagami-m channel, which gives severe, moderate, light, and no fading environments, via adjusting its fading figure, are also provided in terms of different data rates and number of users.
