Abstract
Twenty kits for clinical chemical analysis of calcium in serum were evaluated and compared with the. atomic absorption reference method. One kit performed as well as the reference method and five other kits performed acceptably according to arbitrary performance criteria. None of the kits provided completely adequate literature. Normal values, when provided, were frequently not applicable to the kit itself. There was reasonably good agreement between evaluators studying seven different kits in two different laboratories.
