Abstract
In this paper performance of a hybrid series filter applied to a grid composed of a line commutated inverter interfaced with a PV array is investigated. One of the worst disadvantages of the inverters on the basis of line commutated is having high level of THD which makes power quality undesirable. Typical method of using passive filters can be effective in power quality improvement but inflexibility and resonance possibility between grid and passive filters are some of the main causes that necessitate using shunt passive and active series filters at the same time. Simulation results obtained from MATLAB show satisfactory performance of the hybrid configuration in mitigating power quality problems.
